Multiple shaft gearbox with input shaft driven oil pump - has suction pipe with filter fitted lower end in sump and upper end with constantly filled intermediate reservoir at pump level



The multiple-shaft gearbox (1) has a pump (18), in the upper region of the gearbox, connected directly to the drive shaft (8). The pump provides lubrication for the gears (19-28) and pressure for disc clutch operation. A lower end of a pump suction pipe (16) is fitted with a filter (36) and submerged in an oil reservoir (31). The upper end feeds an intermediate oil reservoir (18a) located at pump level and on the output side (14) of the gearbox. The intermediate oil reservoir does not empty when the pump is not operating. ADVANTAGE - Dry running of the pump is avoided.
